The method
Practice with purpose.
Effective preparation connects practice, review, and planning. Work through questions to build skills, revisit what you’ve learned to strengthen recall, and follow a plan that fits the time before your test.
Practice before you check the answer
Try a question, then read the explanation. Notice which rule, reasoning step, or timing decision you missed. That gives your next practice session a specific purpose.
Review over time
Return to what you’ve learned across several sessions rather than doing all your review at once. As recall gets stronger, try longer gaps between reviews. Revisit difficult material sooner.

What it builds
Stronger recall
Retrieving a rule or formula across several sessions helps you remember it beyond the day you first learned it.
Confidence through application
Use what you remember in new questions. Explanations help you understand why an answer works, rather than just recognize a familiar example.
Both tests, one loop
Use the same practice-and-review approach for SAT Reading and Writing and Math, or ACT English, Math, and Reading. Include ACT Science if you plan to take it.
